So...you poke at the bear after he told you to back off. It actually goes okay, but then you just have to keep poking in specifically the way he told you not to, then the bear snaps back and you believe HE has to apologize? It's his fault? Really? He shouldn't have made assumptions, but she went after him knowing what would happen because she just had to ~know everything about him. Also, she's still lying to him.

He only just figured out that he should have gone to the owners before the cops. *facepalm* Also, his internal misogyny is so romantic! I get it was caused by his mom, but still. It'll probably only get worse after Ivy's duplicity is revealed. I did really like the bouncy house scene. But he shook her grandfather's hand after he just fingered her!!! AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO THINGS ABOUT THESE THINGS?!?!

Also, the number one thing I don't understand is the size of these parcels of land. One's described as being many acres, and the other is at least one acre. Yet somehow they're like suburban houses right on top of each other so that he gets all the noise from the farm and trespassers all over his land. I don't get how that's possible unless the structures were built right next to each other over the property line.

I'm trying to not be annoyed by this female embodiment of Will Farrell's Elf, because I'm bah humbug about Christmas, so I get Tanner. I will say that A-calling him a Scrooge is unfair, it's flipping August! Even people who love Christmas don't want it everyday year round. "Who doesn't like Christmas carols?!" Uh, *this girl* B-How is he a bad neighbor? On paper, the farm comes out looking horrible.

I completely agree with the fact he knew that tree farm was there before he bought the house and started work on it. On the other hand, if I had to listen to Christmas music blasted every day, year round (not to mention screaming children also posing a legal liability to me), I'd want to fire bomb the place. (Hell, I want to during the Christmas season anyway.)

Suzie Quint This sounds like a book I need to avoid.

The strange thing is that I don't even hate this story or these characters as much as I usually do in these little Harlequin books. I just have a very short annoyance trigger (and sadly Goodreads has given me a place to put my feelings). I'll have to see how the rest of the story pans out before I can decide.

Suzie Quint I have to laugh. If you normally hate these little Harlequin books, why do you keep reading them? I see that kind of thing a lot here on GR. It's like some reader have a little masochistic streak, continuing to read a series or an author they're not excited about.

Alicia (is beyond tired of your *ish) That's definitely me sometimes. I'll keep trying unless I feel truly offended by something. And maybe "hate" is too strong a word, certain ones I've hated, others are just not all that good/annoying. I don't think I've given any of them above two stars. Mostly I read these types because I'm a sucker for men with babies so I can't help myself; I keep reading them and hoping for the best. If I'm reading it and it doesn't have a kid, that means it was $1 at the library and I can leave it in other rooms of the house, haha. It's hard to explain, but at least they're only 200 pages so I don't lose much.

Suzie Quint It's interesting that certain tropes suck ya in and leave others cold. FREX, it's a rare secret baby story that I won't hate yet some people adore them. Like I really enjoy Rachel Gibson's books, but her secret baby story? I wanted to see the heroine hung, drawn, and quartered for being so selfish.

Alicia (is beyond tired of your *ish) Oh, I cannot, CANNOT, read a secret baby story. It makes me so angry. If that's a part of the synopsis I run in the other direction. There's an angry, one-star ranting review of mine here on a book where that was suddenly part of the story and I unleashed rage on it. Like your last sentence times 100.
