Lia (main characters sister) is back from college at the same time as the murders started.
she didn't like the people who were murdered and told them to "get back in their lane".
Lia's college is mentioned so many times that I'm pretty sure it's important.
Lia refused to go back to college, probably so she could keep killing people.
