I have finished the alternate ending of “The Jewel of Seven Stars.” It was definitely a censorship job. Stoker’s original ending, which is included in the novel in this compilation, has been written to be too upsetting to readers at the time of publication, so the publisher demanded him rewrite the final chapter. Needless to say, Stoker’s original ending is the superior ending.

I have officially finished the first of three novels in this compilation, “The Jewel of Seven Stars,” and I enjoyed it. Now, I’m going to read the alternate ending, provided by this volume.
