Dostoyevsky is able to place even a modern reader in the mindset of multiple different characters with different political ideologies 19th century Russia. While I do love this book, I think that quite a lot is lost in translation, especially the humor that is apparent, but is just too old and too Russian for me to catch everything.

All their infighting has left the only people to intact any really action to be radical without any real ends.

Krillov would be unable to “become god” because he would be committing suicide for other matters; if he were to kill himself by reason of “no other reason than it being his own choice” , by the fact that he is boasting being able to do so to others, he is doing it for others peoples thoughts of him.
