The author is really teasing the relevancy of one of the characters and his plot line/POV in the book — she hasn't lost me yet but hoping it starts to unveil itself soon. I still find the octopus-POV chapters a little more captivating but unfortunately I've learned those chapters are almost never more than 1.5 pages... .____. Since I don't read enough I'm hopeful I can finish this before it's due in 9 days!

I like the narration style and Marcell is lowkey kinda funny — tbh I get through the human POV chapters more quickly just to get back to reading what Marcell is up to. Intrigued to see how the mystery unfolds and how Marcell helps. The ~type~ of story/writing is reminiscent of Where the Crawdads Sing (the BOOK) mixed with The Art of Racing in the Rain (again, the BOOK) but maybe a little less dark, at least so far!
