I'd say it's four stars. Emotionally heavier than I expected, which isn't a bad thing unless you're wanting something light. A little slow at times but overall pretty good.

I highly, highly recommend "One Golden Summer" by Carly Fortune though! One of my fave books in years. Although I also recommend reading "Every Summer After" first since it shares the same characters. Not as fantastic as OGS but still good and provides important context. I think both would be great vacation reads.

Oh, one other thing! Don't read the author's note at the beginning. It has trigger warnings, but it spoiled several plot points or at least made them easier to figure out, imo. I wish I hadn't read it.
