We struggle to explain how we know of God's character and essence. One group leans too heavily on a CSI method: collect evidence, analyze it, & provide proof. Another group treats experiential evidence as enough, as if what they've experienced is the recipe for every other person's belief. What is missing is this: relationship..Through relationship we learn that we can trust aspects of God we can't see or understand.

Do you want to believe? Then you already do. And that is the beating heart of this book. Belief is from Him. Ask for it, and in the asking, you have already received. Do not worry about your own weakness. Stop fearing your own sickly reflection and your distressingly philosophical navel. Ignore your empty hands. Those are your qualifications for his grace. His hands are full. And you are in them. ~ND Wilson, foreword
