As a musician, (orchestral violinist) this book is really interesting. It gives a readable synopsis of each opera, and the context of Verdi's life, social and political climate at time it was written. Also are included are some sarcastic musician comments--mostly inside jokes-- that are delicious! I won't be finishing this any time soon. I own my copy, and will pick away at it when I'm in the mood.
