Zubock will present some uncomfortable truths for western audiences (operation unthinkable, even though it is brushed over) but in a way that still affirms western moral superiority the supposed inherent wickedness of communism. Critical readers would be better jumping directly to something like Michael Parenti's Blackshirts and Reds.
