I was struggling a bit with this book. It is well written and easy to read. Since the first part focuses on the crime writer and the escaped serial killer that he wrote about, I developed certain expectations about the story. It turns out, the story is not primarily about a serial killer.
Some interesting things develop in part 2, intriguing and creepy.
I'm still finding some sections drag, focusing on minor details.

I'm a true crime addiction, so of course I love the true crime writer being hunted by a serial killer premise. However, we are not getting much insight into the killer. We are spending a lot of time on the main character's childhood and history. I think there is likely an interesting link from his childhood to the opening scene and the killer. It is well written, easy to read, but I'm bored at times.

The opening scene is quite well written and terrifying. Vivid.
The next chapter or 2... I'm getting a bit disengaged. It feels predictable, but I might yet be surprised.
