I appreciate this work so much more after having studied the so-called "pre-socratic" and later hellenistic philosophers, but even more so after having read and studied Schopenhauer (more specifically his magnum opus). This makes sense, as at this point Nietzsche was still totally enthralled with the philosophy of Schopenhauer (this work, if i remember correctly, is one of his earliest) and was still developing
