I finished Tar Baby this morning. I ate breakfast. I started this book eating dinner—a tuna sandwich with cucumbers and hummus, and reading on its first page: “Neither boy waited to see more; another kettleful of chickpeas smoking in a heap on the floor; soda crackers crumbled and strewn in a line next to the door sill.” Thought that was funny.
