maybe unpopular opinion but Alice is such a boring character, if she was replaced with anyone else the book would improve by a lot.. however im really digging into the Sabine/Charlotte drama that is just a straight up copy of iwtv, the sad part is that that is the best part of the book 😭 anne rice would sue if she was alive probably.. Sabine is like lestat if lestat was a psychopath who hated humanity..

This book would be SO MUCH BETTER if Sabine/Charlotte was introduced not 300 pages in but 100 pages in 😭😭😭

This book is way more enjoyable when you skip all the Alice/Cathy flashbacks.. also i feel like if the author wanted us to know about Alice's backtstorie and connection with her sister they could just call or text each other 😭

this book needed to be edited down so baddd! the narrative is so boring on the Alice POV and also i couldn't give less of a fuck about her sister and step mom, im not even going to bother reading the flashbacks anymore because half of it is pure fluff jesus

V.E. Schwab's inability to write people of color or just white people with brown eyes or brown hair (south Europeans in general lmao) needs to be studied. Also the first time a hot girl with brown eyes is presented her eyes are "the most common color in the world, but there is nothing common about them. They're gold at the edges, like some intern light is trying to seek out".. Jesus christ girl.. enough
