They released an article addressing the logo update. I think the original logo had some accessibility issues. 😩 The lower case g is supposed to resemble a 🔍 magnifying glass over a book. TBH I don’t see it. It’s not the best rebrand I’ve seen but I’m optimistic it heralds an update across the site. For an Amazon owned company Goodreads has always looked like a relic from 2011. The fact they’re finically investing some time & money into the site could be for the positive.

So far their updates have not been on the good side. Easy things to keep like "Favorite Authors" in statistics were killed. The home page is much harder to navigate with several clicks to get to information that was on the page. Getting your friends information on the books much harder to find, sometimes you have to un-hide the editions, sometimes not, next in series you have to go to the series page or scroll all the way down instead of to the side. The book is to the right and stays there, which does nothing for the use of the site but takes up space. No it's doubtful that the update from "relic from 2011" will be for the users, which I definitely liked the old home page and book page that was from the relic era because they WORKed better for getting information from groups and friends. What friends have it on their "want to read", which liked it (they are grouped and now you have to bring the pop up up to see more than 2 or 3 friend), etc... This site has millions of book readers so they bought it and are trying to figure out how they can tie it to their environment. If they could make it go through Amazon, without loosing all the users, for everything, they would. If I ever have to associate an Amazon account, I will do a final save and be done.

I agree with everything that you say. It's harder to navigate and find what your friends are reading, and the site now hide many reviews, I still don't get what is the system to out up some reviews and not another. The groups too suffer with the info and hide more updates, Ug. I will miss a lot of friends are their funny comments if I have to leave.

Such a great, relatable idea! We all use magnifying glasses for reading books these days.
