That goofy grin spreads across his face. Just then, he loses his balance on the edge of the bed and slips, knocking a plate of heart-shaped Linzer cookies off the table with a crash. We both burst out laughing.
"I'm sorry," he says, sitting there on the floor "I'm sorry. This is terrible."
I laugh. He makes me smile, this boy I've just married. This best friend of mine.

This book is beautiful, sad, and so sweet.
