A specific example of the mention of previous Roman emperors, is when Nic finds an artifact that was said to belong to Julius Caesar himself. It also depicts themes such as gladiator fights that take place in the Coliseum such as entire naval battles they would stage for the public amusement.

My story takes place in Ancient Rome. It is fairly obvious from nearly the first chapter, as it begins saying how the main character, Nic, is a slave in a mine that is just outside of the actual city of Rome. In terms of it being ancient, it depicts the nobles who visit the mines as wearing togas. There is also a prominent theme of the previous Roman emperors and their legacies (Julius Caesar, Nero, Claudius, etc.)
