Jayson’s Reviews > Superman '78: The Metal Curtain > Status Update

Jayson
Jayson is finished

Notes:
(1) I like the idea that Metallo's armor is actually Lex Luthor's 1980s Warsuit, which this Pre-Crisis movie version of Lex would never have used.
- I didn't catch it on my first read.
- Pre-Crisis Lex was essentially a mad scientist.
(2) Despite being set in a movie universe, this feels very TV, at most a TV movie.
- It just doesn't seem epic or "big-budget" enough.

Notes:
(1) The first half of this is all about the Superman/Lois/Clark love triangle.
- It's impressive how Venditti squeezes in so many facets and nuances of this dynamic.
(2) It's kind of weird seeing Gene Hackman after knowing the circumstances of his recent passing.
- I wonder if DC will keep him on as Lex Luthor for future arcs or if they'd retire or "recast" the role.

Notes:
(1) I've been meaning to read this for a while now, but I'm never really motivated to read a series I've already finished in singles unless there's a reason to.
- However, with the new "Superman" movie out and in the zeitgeist, it's the perfect time to get this done, this being based on a previous movie universe.
(2) I wish the cover art wasn't so offensively bright!
