Definitely helps to have semi-decent understanding of the events of the Heresy before diving in. Knowing what's to come gives the reader more of a sense of dramatic irony as the plot begins to slowly unfold. Surprised at how much the philosophical and ethical discussions work for me highlighting the overall hypocrisy of the Crusades. Better than I expected so far!

Part 2 was REALLY good. Love the description of One-Fourty-Twenty's ecosystem and atmosphere as well as the xenos that call it home. Great build into to part 3 with some interesting seeds planted that are made more impactful when knowing what will become the ultimate fate of many of the characters.
