Based on the characters in Symptoms of Being Human, the statement,"It is common for every teenage to feel like an outsider sometimes," is supported in my book. The main character, Riley, is a genderfluid teen going to a new high school with no friends. On the first day, a girl calls her a 'it' and Riley gets bullied by the football players.

The author made me feel the most suspense when Riley was attacked because i didn't know what was going to happen to her. And since Bec didn't visit her i thought she might've had something to do with the attack.

I wouldn't let people talk down on me or make me feel bad about myself. I know it's hard for her because she has anxiety so i understand why she doesn't stand up for herself.

If I were the main character in my book I would stand up for myself more. Riley is really shy and timid when people make fun of the way she dresses or what she looks like. Some girls even called her an 'it'. If that were to happen to me I would stand up for myself.

I chose this book because I've always been into in books about people in the LGBT community or kids that are punk or in that scene. A lot of accounts that I follow on Instagram suggested this book and I wanted to give it a try and I really liked it. Its really interesting and I really like this book.

My book is realistic because this book is based on modern time and today it's accepted by society to be apart of the LGBT+ community. Also a lot of the things Riley experiences I've experienced myself or have heard of people experiencing. Like her getting made of by the popular kids at school, I know plenty of people who have gone through that including myself.

Also, Solo, the guy she made friends with on the first day, should of stood up to her when Vickers said those awful things to her. So far in the book Riley's made 1 and a half new friends but I think they're great and I love this book so far.

Riley is a great character. I can relate to feeling the way she feels about how she dresses, how she feels everyday, and what people expect of her. I wouldn't say I'm gender fluid but I see how she feels more of a boy some days and more of a girl other days.
