Ars gratia artis meant absolutely nothing to Barnes. I’m glad he’s probably turning in his grave over the collection’s current state — one that seems far better for public access to art and education than the vitriolic policies espoused during his lifetime

God this dude sucks

One chapter in and all I have deduced is, “this guy is an asshole”. I think the actual quote (p. 4) described him as a “ruthless, underhanded son-of-a-bitch”
