I've exhausted myself with reading extensive amounts of non-fiction and academic journals for uni that (stupidly) I picked up Yellowface to find some reprieve. Anyways, R.F. Kuang is one of the biggest intellects I know and writes like a lecturer more often than not, so not so much of the reprieve I crave. Still, I think aside from that the book has become repetitive already so it's hard to chew through.

You have to learn quick on whether the author is being pretentious or the characters, so far I believe it’s the latter for this one, but we’ll see (this was a thing some reviews pointed out)
