The Yellow Wallpaper (1892, by Charlotte Perkins Gilman). Excellent and heartbreaking story about how “women’s diseases” (such as “hysteria” and post-partum depression) were more or less completely neglected by science and society. And how damaging the treatment for these conditions were. Unfortunately still very relevant today. 5/5
