something I like about gansey's characterisation is that he's genuinely sort of bad at understanding the nuance of other people's - specifically people far poorer than him - situation. for all that he loves adam, his thoughts of the situation are more or less 'just leave', something that's nowhere near as simple as gansey thinks. there is complexity here that he can't truly understand, and it drives him wild.
