Interesting idea that prior to the telegraph, people had information that they could usually act on because info was limited to a local area. With the arrival of the telegraph, local context was lost and with it, the agency of people to act on the info they received. Now with a glut of information, trivia and crosswords are how we act on the number of facts we receive, and so the transition to entertainment culture.
