Aside from the setting, the plot is very different from the TV show Gangnam B-sides, which was inspired from this book. The characters are completely different as well, unless the ones I know aren't introduced yet (Hoping Yoon Gilho is in it!).
What I dislike though is that it seems to deviate from the message that was conveyed in the show but it's too early to decide that.

Halfway in and the plot is definitely not the same. Where's my immortal pimp on an epic quest to avenge his girls that was like a found family to him? Instead it's a filthy rich man who owns an entire city that wants revenge for his son. which he can get cuz he's rich. where are my desperation of the lower class, of the undocumented, the thrills, the tragedy of pure love that couldnt survive in a corrupt world?

However, the show emphasized the importance of women and the horrific lives they lived in Gangnam with all the violence they went through, often treated as less than humans. Which is why the show featured two women among their main characters. The book seems to denounce the same message but it's drowned by the plot and all the main characters are men who are all very morally corrupt when in the show the main characters were fighting said corruption. The message the show portrayed is what made me like the show very much so i was expecting the same thing from the book more or less.
