This book…confused me to say the least. Hawthorne’s writing is rough- long sentences, multiple thoughts, and I don’t think he ever straight out said anything. While I was reading it I hated it. It was the worst hour of my day, and always felt like complete torture. But looking back, the book was actually quite brilliant (as long as you can look past the old timey writing style.)
