There's nothing quite like an adventure in Alaska to distract you from 110+º summer days. (Out mosquitoes have got nothing on the ones in Alaska, though.) Norma Cobb is a heck of a woman. So far, I don't think we'd be friends, but I very much respect her grit.

What a weird combination of enjoyable adventure and truly unlikeable people. Imagine moving to a pristine wilderness, in part because you don't like what's being done to the environment, and then strip mining that wilderness with bulldozers. Sadly, the self-righteous hypocrisy of these people sounds a lot like the attitudes of many (not all) of our settler forebears.
