So much better than I expected.
Switches between pre-Clone Wars and post-Revenge of the Sith.
Where was Tarkin during the Clone Wars? He was a planetary governor, hence not an active military commander.
He's on a first-name basis with Senator Palpatine.
He knows Count Dooku and suspects the trade war was staged because Dooku's separatist actions make no logical sense to him.

I really love the Dooku/Tarkin scenes, since we never got to see Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing on screen together in Star Wars.

I wasn't sure that I'd, how do I put this, CARE about Tarkin's backstory, but it makes him into a truly frightening character, fills in some holes in the lore, and is incredibly compelling.
