The narrator is a dick. The way he describes his relationship with Baxter, although he considers him an “equal,” sounds a bit as if he sees him as insubordinate, or some sort of pet. The way he describes his physical features (knowing what I know from the movie) is making me so sad. Had to stop reading because the line “in a faltering voice he asked, if I too, thought he was that.” BYE ✋
