I'm up to Ch. 5 -- I'm very invested in this story, but I feel the storytelling itself is a tad distracting and unclear in places. The protagonist has witnessed a fatal accident and there is a curious lack of emotional response from ANY of the characters which made them read more shallow to me. I'm still in love with this author's voice, though, and will continue reading.

I've reached Chapter 13. So far so good. I love this book's language! The plot is slow-placed but perfect for a good quality historical.

Hmmm ... There is "instalove" in this read but the language and dialogue are beautifully done.

Writing's quite good. The author's voice is smooth, crisp, and credible. However, at least a dozen characters were introduced in Chapter 1 and I can't keep all of them straight in my head.
