Okay so compared to the others books I read/listen to that has to do with the mafia or something like that, this one has to be my favorite so far🤭

The engines revved and the plane moved forward, slow at first and then gathering tremendous speed. “No, handsome. I won’t regret it.” She rolled up on her toes, coiled her arms around his neck and whispered against his lips. “I’m yours every bit as much as you are mine. And I intend to spend a very long time showing you what being loved feels like.”

His Adam’s apple bobbed, such raw emotion etched in his rugged features as he spoke, she felt them to her soul. “I need you to be certain, liubimaja.”
She cupped each side of his face.“I am certain. Right or wrong. Good or bad—I accept you. All of you. Just as you are.”

A vow offered not just to her, but to the universe. “You will not regret this. Not ever.”

From the trajectory of Kir’s voice behind him, he still hadn’t budged from the passenger’s side of the car. “Where are you going?”
“I have ice cream and a woman relaxing in a hot bath.” He glanced over his shoulder. “Where do you think I’m going?”
Kir chuckled and shook his head. “You’re whipped.”
Perhaps he was. God knew he had no patience where Evette was concerned.

Sergei loved many things about modern life. Particularly modern American life. But after fifteen minutes too long in the frozen foods section of the nearest grocer and Kir offering his opinions on which ice cream to select, Sergei had decided that Ben & Jerry’s had officially taken things too far.

“What do you mean, you’re not surprised? That’s insane. He barely knows me.” Dorothy stared at her.
On a heavy exhale, her gaze slid to her desk. “I saw him, child. Saw the way he looked at you when he thought no one else was looking.” A sad smile tilted her lips. “Like an angel had come tiptoeing into hell with a ray of sunshine just for him. A little spark in the darkness.”

Evie aimed a stern look at Kir and Roman. “Where is he?”
“Who?” Kir said, though the grin on his face said he knew damned well whom she wanted.
“Don’t mess with me, Kir. I’ve had a weird morning.”
Roman chuckled at that and apparently decided to take pity on her. “You will find him in his office.”
