I have such mixed feelings about this book

"I suddenly wanted Davis badly enough that I no longer cared why I wanted him, whether what wanted him was capitalized or lowercase." What ever happened to "I fell in love the way you fall asleep; slowly, then all at once"? Did like that lone about adults being hollowed out tho. For me, this book has been a rollercoaster of good lines and bad lines; realistic characters and flat characters.

Sometimes this book just feels like something to quote, and other times it's incredible

Aza: *talks about bird feces, how no one can control what happens in their life, and how she's not sure if she's real*

Davis: Wow, you're just too good to be true. 😍

There's a lot of deep lines and dry humor in this book, like it's main purpose is to be talked about and not enjoyed

Philosophy > plot

The thing I like the best about John Green's stories is that they're character driven, but this feels like it's quote driven. These teens come up with such deep philosophies on the level of Plato himself, but it just doesn't feel genuine. The best example of that is "I like being outside at night. It gives me this weird feeling, like I'm homesick but not for home." Beautiful quote, but who would say that in a text?

I thought this would be a new favorite for me, but something about these characters just feels more flat then it did in The Fault in Our Stars or Looking For Alaska

I may have never been to Indiana, but I'm going to assume it no longer costs 7 dollars to take a journey around Indianapolis like that
