It is frankly irresponsible of her not to go to the police, now that she knows who the kidnapper is and *someone else's child is in danger*!!!! Why is she trying to figure everything out on her own?

Why won't she tell the police about the threatening postcards??

So the main character passes out from heatstroke and then when she wakes up this James guy has sex with her without even talking to her? And they are pretty much strangers at that point?? Seems like he took advantage of her and I don't like the way the author frames it

The significance of her name being Cassandra is immediately obvious. A little on-the-nose, but I don't mind.
