New Criticism advocates close reading of a literature, using different tropes and focuses on the text itself. Intentional fallacy and affective fallacy - author’s meaning and readers’ emotions should be disregarded. I thought it’s similar to the death of the author, but the difference is that DOA encourages multiple meanings, but INT.F reaches a unified meaning at the end.

Russian Formalism - about defamiliarisation, focusing on analysing forms in a text to give you a renewed understanding of it. Basically it’s challenging the habitual, making something sound so overdone that you’ll come to understand how the description is supposed to be. Interesting examples of Daffy Duck Duck Amuck cartoon, and Laurence Sterne’s Tristram Shandy.

Omniscience (3-rd person narration) is overrated because being all-knowing =/ all-telling. It’s called limited omniscient narrator.
