I think the only thing I don't like is Edwin and his controlling of Lizzie because she wants books all the time.. but already has a library. I don't like men controlling women in that way.

So Mr. Inspector is The Circular Misogynist of the story that hates ALL women for conforming to gender standards and being "children" and then saying they should just all write romance.
Enter Lizzie which is kind of played as the "not all women" BUT she then goes on to demand an apology and brings up Ada Lovelace as first programmer.
