The protagonist is supposed to be a 50-something smart woman who has experienced going back in time several times before and has studied Victorian literature, and yet, she knows nothing of the Victorian era?including Jack the Ripper?! She also breaks rule n°1 of the team first thing during the mission just because it is "charming"?

Three explicit mentions to the notion of patriarchy and ironic jokes so far, in case we don't get it.
The protagonist is 50, supposedly experienced & learned in Victorian England and yet, she has zero basics. Thank the gods her previous tutor is here to give her a Victorian life crash course: "They were all mad."
For a book about a murder investigation and time travel, it's also pretty boring so far.
