Baby's second french novel en français. This is gonna take forever.
I was of two minds of the phrase "nailed to the beloved body like a slave to a cross..." when I read the English translation. Almost too neat in its play on the dissonance in connotation of crucifixion when the book is set vs now (we would not first think of a slave!) but the french is "comme un crucifié," "like a crucified one," more subtle.
