Ch. 31 All’s well that ends well. Jen and Moon girl marry. His top minister is Mafoo and his treasurer is Moxa. They have sons and daughters and they govern well because their law is based on the golden rule. They kept meaning to travel to the northern kingdom but when they finally try they learn that their kingdom is the kingdom of happiness.

Jen snatches the sword and the tiger chases the bandit into the painting. Because the general came back in time to save the prince, he and his men are now flesh and blood. He gives back the saddle. Chu realizes that he is the king and returns the bowl to its rightful owner. The girl returns the kite and the artists returns the paintbox. Only Moon girl keeps the flute.

Then by the river near the palace the artist paints. I love how all the gifts freely given, come back just in time to pay back his kindness. The bandit has his arm raised again for the kill and suddenly the sword says it doesn’t want any more drinks. It’s sad because one reviewer made it sound like Alexander ran out of ideas and wrapped it up quickly. It’s a fairy tale in true Shakespeare comedy fashion!

Flying girl has to make a choice. She can either continue flying with the golden eagle or forever remain grounded. Out of thanks to her grandmother and Jen, she choses them. She flies right toward Jen and distracts the executioner and bandit long enough for the chase to begin. Chu walks slowy outside the gates with his bowl. He sees the bandit and throws his bowl at him, making him stumble.

The bandit king orders his guards to haul the group out to the courtyard for a public execution. Just as the executioner is poised to chop, chop, the crowd screams because the general in the forbidden saddle arrives. His army are all made of stone and therefore they are invincible. The question is whether they arrived in time or not.

Ch. 30 I knew it. The kite girl arrives in time to save the day!!!

They talk about escape plans and strategies. Moon girl has a dagger to kill the bandit or herself. Moxa offers to dress up like her and kill him but he’s too ugly. Mafoo knows the lay out of the entire palace as a former servant and he tries to dig but the knife broke. The bandit arrives and acts all smug and uses a lot of bold words and swagger. Even though he has no plan, Jen suddenly sees how small the bandit is.

Ch. 29 Moon girl wants to buy time and she has no intention of marrying the creep. She gives Jen a lot of news about happenings in the kingdom and palace. There is rebellion afoot and the scumbag sent off a lot of his mean to deal with it. While the vocal friends of Jen were killed, there are many quiet ones who will probably step up at the right time. Jen is worried about all the ifs. Too much chance.

When they arrived in town, some were good and some, not so good. He sees Moon girl and the grandma of the flying girl. He is happy that the flying girl lives, but sad that her grandmother has lost track of her. The worst news is that this was all a trap because the Yellow Scarves moved in as soon as the king died, and the letter was a ruse. Poor guy.

Ch. 28 Jen has learned that revealing his identity to strangers is a problem. His true friends believe it. Mafoo because he started out with him and Moxa because of what he knows about him. There are some loose ends besides Moon girl: Master Hu (I think) as well as the general and the Yellow Scarves leader. In true fairy tale fashion, it will wrap up quickly and happily and he will get his girl.

M&M first went to the innkeeper and it did not violate any rules to rob him. They became very wealthy because Moxa’s skills as a thief, made him a great businessman, especially because there were no rules to follow (ha, ha). They searched high and low to find him as well as Moon girl. The problem is that Jen must go home because his father died and he is now the king.
