I have some interesting details I’ve taken a like to reading up to chapter 10. The death of Sibyl Vane is just a precursor, a foreshadowing, to the eventual demise of Dorian. How she fell so deeply into her craft, then abandoned it, and lost her delicacy and novelty. Or, Dorian’s new burden, the painting, and how he locks it deeper and deeper, discarding his sanity and morals, hiding the true Dorian from the eye

“The picture, changed or unchanged, would be a visible emblem of conscience”
This quote really marked the turning point of this book and my amount of interest in the character of Dorian Gray. I thought he would continue to submit and be Lord Henry’s little pet for the entirety of the book, delving into degeneracy and sin. However, his humanity is shining through, and a real, tangible conflict enters.

I think the narrative is confusing at times but sometimes the language and dialogue flows smoothly as a play would, likely due to the period at which is was written in. Nonetheless, the book is interesting enough to be followed, and has is moments where it captivates me. I like it enough to keep on reading.
