“Marxist analyses usually begin with the economic infrastructure without investigating the ecological context, that is the soil, water, animal, mineral, and vegetable bases of a society in which the infrastructure is embedded. There is inadequate appreciation of ecological infrastructure. We propose to complement the concept of modes of production with concept of modes of resource use.”
