The answer to that is a most definite yes. He might not have been a gift-giver, but for ten years he gave me the huge gift of his presence.
And there were other important perks, as well. For one thing, he protected me.
After all, that’s what a big brother does, right? Maybe part of our problem, as I got older and stronger and surer of myself, was that I needed his protection less.
