Fifty pages left to go, and I want to hurl this book at the wall. WHY does Tom want to protect Isabel so badly that he's willing to lie and take the fall for her? Isabel is such a stupid, miserable, manipulative character. Right now all the characters are steeping in their own self-made misery, and it is such a bore to read. Maddening.
