The first chapter is one of the most well-written studies on the history of Islam, political involvement of Muslims, Muslims migrants, and practice of Islam in Myanmar.

One of the suggestions proposed by Crouch is to reconstruct our style of categorization of Muslims in Myanmar. This paper shaped the way I view the Muslim community in general (although Crouch implored not to generalize).
