The blurb seems a bit grim - at least to start with. But I lived in Portland for 6 months and really loved it. I wonder if that's a good enough reason to read the book.

Probably not, they have already traveled to Baja California before moving to Oakland, California. It's also not literary-fiction.

Haha. Yes, I suppose it was a long shot. But if there's any travel down the Oregon/California coastline or through the Cascades, I'd take that, too.
