The book has 413 pages, not 432 as indicated. Author Charlotte Gray has done a magnificent job of researching the topic and characters she writes about. Excellent coverage of Jack London brings forth a clear picture of a dedicated writer who suffered many hardships. Would today's adventurer's have the stamina and courage to survive such harsh conditions as did the partakers of the challenge in 1896-97? Doubtful.

Troubling temperature values (pg 60) show "below zero" and "below freezing" -much different.
Pg.380: Dawson City is said to have grown ". .from 300 to 300,000 in less than two years". Earlier detail indicates a count of 30,000.
Blemishes aside - 4-1/2 Stars.
