“Andy and Dingo will likely inspect your barn and outbuildings and then sit along the Dismal riverbank and stare at the water flowing by. He has always been a loner of sorts, lost in his thoughts, speaking only when he feels strongly about something—like when he defended his dad. Most of the time, he seems to live in a world of silence like the dog."

"I daresay no man has ever impressed me more than Morgan Fraser. I am slow to judge people at first meeting, but I immediately saw him as a good, strong man. Morg often took journeys in his own head and found that he generally never felt alone in his own company. He supposed that was how he had tolerated the life of a roving marshal.
