I’m having fun with Lady Darling’s daughters, who all come to get the gossip after their mother stumbles over a dead body at a dinner party the night before.
The daughters (all married off, and well, thank you very much!) are horrified at the thought of their mother inquiring after a killer—except for the youngest one, Jane, who thinks she could help. (Ha!)

Chapter One, page 1:
“Irene Colchester, nee Whitney, The Most Honorable Marchioness of Darling, had come to the conclusion that a married-off child was the best sort of child to have. Especially if that child was a daughter.”
When I wrote that line, I couldn’t help but laugh to myself. As an empty-nester, yes, I feel the same way!
However, my empty-nesting doesn’t include stumbling over a dead body…
