• never in my life have i ever felt so beat over the head with purple prose. the author’s verbosity meanders so far in every direction. i am not the first to say this. maybe a thematic device for being lost in the woods, but it seems more indulgent than intentional.

for all her wordiness and “storytelling,” any time she hints at something, maybe gets a little more clever with her wording, perhaps even a bit more chaste, SHE FOLLOWS IT UP WITH A FULL EXPLANATION OF HER WORDPLAY as if we, the reader, amidst all her commas, uses of “whom,” and SAT words, can’t understand the cleverness of her craft.
