The arenas are historic sites, preserved after the Games. Popular destinations for Capitol residents to visit, to vacation. Go for a month, rewatch the Games, tour the catacombs, visit the sites where the deaths took place. You can even take part in reenactments.

I forgot about this little detail but it’s so messed up. it’s like people touring sites of mass murders for spring break or something

I think people forget how much perspective Peeta holds from all his struggles, despite being more well-off than Katniss. how many of the other tributes his age felt the same way as him but never had the courage or wisdom to come to terms with it?

”I don’t know how to say it exactly. Only… I want to die as myself. Does that make any sense? he asks. I shake my head. How could he die as anyone but himself? “I don’t want them to change me in there. Turn me into some kind of monster that I’m not.”

I feel like Katniss’ interaction with the Capitol Avox is really important. She has this hatred for the Capitol yet thinks that she’s just as bad as them for failing to rescue the girl and the boy that day
