I’ve had a very long week after a medical procedure and haven’t been able to read much but today I listened to a gorgeously produced fairytale on audio—The River Has Roots—by Amal El-Mohtar (and narrated by Gem Carmella—isn’t that a great name?!). It was a nice surprise—I selected it out of one of those Goodreads Summer Challenges and wasn’t expecting much, but this one was special. Hope you are having a fantastic start to the week. I’m keeping my head in the sand with regard to local news (DC area) which isn’t a sustainable posture for the long haul but sometimes you have to back up a bit so you can re-engage with vigor. A good book always helps.

The River Has Roots sounds lovely!
I'm in the DC area as well so understand one million percent about the desire to keep your head in the sand...and you're right: sometimes you have to.
And good books help everything all the time always. :)
I’m just seeing this, but it’s always a good time to post something “delightful and bookish.” I had been looking forward to the upcoming anthology called IT’S THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT, where all the stories are based in the world created by Stephen King in THE STAND. I am so happy to say that it lived up to expectations - so many great stories and fabulous authors. If you loved THE STAND, you’ll enjoy it.
Reading a Stephen King book ! As always I scoff (“surely it can’t be as good as his last book that I’ve read”) at the premise and the slow intro to the characters and then before I know it I’m deeply invested and can’t put it away.
Working through "The Anxious Generation" by Johnathan Haidt. Usually I use these types of books to help reset me back into my routine but this book is making me want to make real changes in my life when it comes to cell phones for myself and my kids. Highly recommend.
